Creating Social Change, Empowering Communities, Building a Batter Tomorrow

For large-scale apparel manufacturers and fabric suppliers, waste management challenges are significant. Meanwhile, small-scale garment makers and local entrepreneurs struggle to access high-quality materials at affordable prices, hampering their economic independence and stifling their creative potential.

The Textiles & Garments industry in Sri Lanka is a cornerstone of the country's economy, playing a pivotal role in its export revenue, employment, and GDP contribution.

Project Kambaya is uplifting Monaragala’s women by turning waste into opportunity. In partnership with the UVA Provincial Council, this initiative upcycles discarded thread cones and plastic waste into durable industrial ropes used in construction, mining, and fisheries. This process reduces waste while creating sustainable jobs for underprivileged communities.

With five new centers opening, over 50 individuals will receive stable employment, earning LKR 22,500 in wages. Kambaya is not just about recycling, it’s about empowering lives and building a greener future.
